Why does Oyer exist?

For a long time, the story goes, music journalism has been dead. Pitchfork was recently, for all intents and purposes, nixed. Major Jewish publications rarely cover new albums of Jewish music. The landscape is gloomy.

While the skies may be cloudy, this is an opportunity. This is an opportunity for audiophiles, sound studiers, music appreciators and aficionados alike — an opportunity for something new.
